Frequently Asked Questions
“At What Week Can I Hear My Baby’s Heartbeat?”
Some of our customers have successfully used the Fetal Heart Monitor as early as week eight. That being said, we at 1790® recommend using the Fetal Heart Monitor only after week sixteen, and here’s why:
Trying to find a heartbeat at an early stage (like week eight or ten) can be tricky. The baby is very small and their positioning is not ideal yet. Then, when parents can’t find a heartbeat… they get nervous. That’s very understandable, and that’s why we recommend waiting at least until week 14, if not 16.
By then, finding your little munchkin’s heartbeat should be a piece of cake!
From a purely technical point of view, 95% of the parents are able to find their baby’s heartbeat by week fourteen, and almost 100% are able to find it by week sixteen.
“Is It Safe?”
According to a Jan. 24, 2015 publication by the Mayo Clinic: “There are no known risks.”
The technology used in our Fetal Heart Monitor is the exact same technology your OB/GYN uses during your checkups.
This technology, called an ultrasound/doppler, has been approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (the F.D.A.) for continued use – including with pregnant women and fetuses.
These devices have been used in billions of medical procedures and checkups over the last 30 years, without a single case of any kind of negative effect ever being documented.
“Is This F.D.A Registered?”
The manufacturing of our 1790® Fetal Heart Monitor is done at a facility registered with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration that also manufactures medical-grade devices for U.S. hospitals.
And we, of course, are F.D.A registered as well. Our F.D.A. registration number is 3012668721 and you can contact 1-888-INFO-FDA (that’s 1-888-4636-332) to verify this information.
“Some Doctors Recommend Against Using an Ultrasound At Home.
Why Is That?”
Some doctors worry that patients will buy potentially dangerous, high-powered, 2D, 3D or even 4D ultrasound devices – the kind that let moms save photos and even videos of the baby for keepsake.
The AIUM (American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine) strongly discourages the use of those 2D, 3D or 4D ultrasound devices for entertainment purposes – which is EXACTLY WHY we do not carry such 2D or 3D devices in ANY of our product lines!
Our Fetal Heart Monitor uses nothing but low-exposure, safe, tried and tested technologies.
We use none of those high-exposure devices doctors worry about, so you can order now with confidence.
“How Is It Better Than Using A Free iPhone/Android App?”
Please, for the sake, well-being, and safety of your baby, do not confuse an ultrasound/doppler monitor with any of those smartphone apps.
First, those apps only work from week 32 (if at all) – many months after you can safely start using our Fetal Heart Monitor to hear your baby’s heartbeat and bond with them.
But that’s not the big issue. Far more important is that those apps require you to expose your unborn child to potentially harmful electromagnetic radiation, including 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and many other frequencies.
Unlike ultrasound/doppler, the safety of these technologies has NOT been tested for a long enough period on adults, let alone on unborn children! And there already is evidence of the potential harm smartphone technologies might have.
Why take the risk? Instead of using smartphone apps that aren’t accurate, work only late into the pregnancy (if at all), and are potentially dangerous… buy an ultrasound/doppler Fetal Heart Monitor – you’ll enjoy it more, and you’ll keep your baby safe!
“How Is It Better Than Using A Stethoscope?”
Unlike a stethoscope, the 1790® can pick up the heartbeat 95% of the time by the 14th week, and almost 100% of the time by the 16th week. A stethoscope can only be used to listen to your baby’s heartbeat months later.
“Does this device require conductive gel as well?”
Applying a lubricant is strongly recommended as it helps reduce static noises and gives you a much sharper, clearer, louder sound. While our gel works best – baby oil, coconut oil, and even olive oil will.

How To Use This Device
The moment that your new Fetal Doppler arrives at your front door, here is what you do next…
Open the package that it arrived in and remove the attractive, carefully packaged box that it’s in.
Remove the Fetal Doppler… and take a moment. Hold it in the palm of your hand and notice how compact it is, and how nicely it fits in your hand as you wrap your fingers around it.
Inside, you will also find…
Two Sets of Headphones: We decided to include two sets of headphones, because some things are just more fun with a partner. Whether it’s your significant other, mom, dad, or best friend, you can share this experience with someone special.
A connection cable that will let you connect the fetal doppler to any computer. If you want to savor the moment and share the sweet sounds with someone – or as a keepsake to listen to them again in 5 years, we’ve got you covered. You can record the sounds of life.
An easy to use instruction manual with images that will make using your Fetal Doppler simple. When we created this amazing device for you, we did a lot of research on how to give you the very best product at the best price.
Some of those other Fetal Dopplers on the market are needlessly complicated and tough to use – so we’ve made it ours as simple as possible for you to enjoy a relaxing, stress free experience.
So, grab your partner and settle in for a cosmic bonding experience as you share the sounds of life.
Although the U.S. Food & Drug Administration has approved the continued use of ultrasound technology, we still recommend limiting your use of the Fetal Heart Monitor to no more than ten minutes at a time, and no more than once a day.
This Is Not A Medical Device
Even though our device has been field-tested by a Registered Nurse (RN) to make sure it fits the highest standards, we want to emphasize: This is not a medical device. Its purpose is to entertain you and bring calmness, closeness, and peace of mind into your life.
We created this Fetal Doppler to provide you with an exciting experience you will cherish for a lifetime. It does not replace your follow up and regular treatment as prescribed by your doctor and OB/GYN. It should not be used for diagnostic purposes of any kind and under any circumstances. If you have any concerns about the wellbeing of your baby or of your own, please consult your doctor without delay.
